Many of times we all
have our information stored on our computers and never keep a backup copy of
it. When our computers crashes we lose all the data stored in it. So that’s why
we need to get external hard drives to save our data. External hard drives are
very useful to store data and backup files. Most of the external hard drives are
portable and small. That’s why I made a list of the top ten External Hard
Drives for 2014. In tenth place we have
the Toshiba Canvio Slim II (1TB) this hard drive is very small and portable and
is compatible with both Mac and PC. It has a transfer speed of 5400 rpm and
uses a 3.0 USB cable, the Toshiba Canvio Slim II comes at a price of $100 US. In
ninth we have the Toshiba Canvio Connect (750GB), it is a fast, capacious hard
drive that fits in a coat pocket. The USB 3.0 drive comes with 10GB of cloud
storage and a Pogo Plug PC utility that makes your files available on the
Internet. The cables it is compatible with are: USB, USB 2.0, SATA, USB 3.0
this cables offer a transfer rate reaching 5400 rpm, this hard drive cost about
$110 US. On eight place we have the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive (32GB)
SSD. This is a wireless storage accessory for your digital devices that gives
you just a bit more storage. The SanDisk Connect is a pocket able flash-based
wireless media drive that can be used for quick trips and jaunts away from
reliable cellular-based Internet access. Because it is SSD it comes at a price
of $80 US for 32 GB. In the seventh place we have Promise Pegasus R4 is a big
metal box with four removable drive sleds in the front, with power and access
lights, and a perforated panel for cooling duties. In the back the drive has a
pair of 10Gbps Thunderbolt ports, a Kensington lock port, cooling fan exhaust,
and a standard 3-pin power port. The drive's internal power supply means that
you won't have to find space for an external power brick, which saves a little
space and makes it more convenient to move the drive to another Mac or PC. The Promise
Pegasus R4 of 4 TB comes at a price of $1999 US. In sixth place ewe have the G-Technology
G-Dock ev with Thunderbolt it looks like a standard desktop RAID drive, with
two drive enclosures slightly protruding out of slots in the front face of the
chassis. This offers a transfer speed of 7200 rpm with thunderbolt and USB 3.0
cables. It comes at a price of $660 US for 2000 GB. In fifth is the Buffalo
Drivestation DDR 2TB (HD-GD2.0U3) this hard drive is an innovative take on the
external desktop-class hard drive. Buffalo has added DDR3 system memory to a
spinning hard drive in one chassis to give us a non-Flash hybrid drive this is faster
than regular spinning hard drives, but a lot less expensive than SSD-based
solutions. Supports USB, USB 2.0, SATA, and USB 3.0 cables and offers a
transfer speed of 7200 rpm, and this hard drive cost $120 US. In fourth place
is the Seagate Wireless Plus this hard drive offers carrying your entire media

finally the best external hard drive now is the LaCie Little Big Disk

thoroughbred series of external solid-state drives (SSDs), keeping a single
